To create an original monotype, Linda Whittemore
first paints ink onto a zinc or plexiglass plate. Brushes and
brayers are used to transfer layers of oil-based printmaking
ink onto the plate surface. The plate is placed onto the bed
of a hand-cranked printing press and a sheet of dampened paper
is placed over the plate. Cranking the plate through the press,
an image is transferred from the plate onto paper resulting
in your original viscosity monotype print.
Linda’s prints are produced with her 40" x 70"
steel press bed. This press allows her to create work in all
sizes including large-scale prints. |
